The Boston Terrier...a genetic mix of English Bulldog and English Terrier were in vogue in the early and mid 20th century
but faded a bit from prominence and the public eye. The Boston Terrier also has the distinction of being one of the
few American dog breeds. The Boston Terrier was of many colors in the beginning. The very first Boston Terrier admitted into
the kennel club was red & white. In the early 1900's the color was designated to be black or brindle so all other colors
were never heard of until now in the last few years. These colors are still around.
They're appealing, smart, loyal, easily trainable, friendly dog. They have that blunt face quality, and their tuxedo-like
coat, has a certain "shock value"...Their round soulful eyes, a rich raven and brindle, black, white, coat plus that million
dollar face...Puffed chest and tuxedo-like marks, led to the breed's being dubbed the "American Gentlemen".
Spokeswoman for the American Kennel Club in New York said " The Bostons are a wonderful breed in general. They're outgoing
and fun-loving, and we're happy their getting recognition". Bostons are ranked 18th-most popular breed last year, with almost
15,000 registered with the AKC alone.
The message I would like to get out to people who are looking for their new Boston puppy is, just look for what you like.
In your search for a puppy look for the one that strikes your heart and is appealing to you and only you! Do not make your
choices based upon a breeders "opinion". Searching for your Boston should solely be based on the characteristics
and size that is appealing to you!
